Burak Cevik and Selman Nacar founded the production company Kuyu Film at Istanbul in 2018. Focusing on narrative films and creative-documentaries, Kuyu Film premiered its first feature The Pillar of Salt at the 68th Berlin Film Festival in Forum Section and its second feature Belonging at the 69th Berlin Film Festival in Forum Section. Kuyu Film is currently working on a third feature named Lacuna.
Selman Nacar (1990, Usak) is a filmmaker, currently pursuing his MFA Film in Directing at Columbia University in New York and teaching fiction filmmaking class at the same university. He graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University Law Faculty in 2015 and Film Faculty in 2016.
He wrote and directed 4 short films, which were awarded at many international film festivals. Also, he is an alumnus of Berlinale Talent 2019.
He produced The Pillar of Salt in 2018, which premiered at 68 th Berlin Film Festival in Forum Section and Belonging in 2019, which premiered at 69 th Berlin Film Festival in Forum Section.
Selman is currently working on his debut film Lacuna.
Burak Çevik (1993, Istanbul) received his BA in Film Faculty at the Istanbul Bilgi University. He founded Fol Cinema Society and curated experimental and arthouse film screenings. He curated the Altered States section of the !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival in 2016 and In Pursuit of Light section of the Istanbul Film Festival in 2017.
His debut feature film The Pillar of Salt premiered at the Berlinale Forum in 2018. His second feature film Belonging premiered at the Berlinale Forum in 2019.
Currently he is teaching at Istanbul Bilgi University and working as a producer on Selman Nacar’s debut film Lacuna.
